HP USB-C Dock G4
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I have a setup with a HP Elitebook 1040 G9 connected to a USB-C Dock G4, with two HP Z24 DisplayPort monitors connected (1920x1200). The notebook is powered from the Dock itself through USB PD.

My issue is that the connection is sometimes very unstable. The monitors suddenly stop working, Windows goes into a device connection/disconnection loop that repeats for several times (5-10). Sometimes everything goes back working, some other times the loop goes on indefinitely and I have to power off and/or disconnect and reconnect the DOck to have everything working correctly again.

General information:

  • Windows 10 Pro, 64-bit, everything updated to latest version
  • Every driver from HP updated
  • Dock firmware updated to latest version
  • Monitor power saving and auto-switch on input, disabled
  • Changed the USB-C cable several times, tried using a different port

This behavior is driving me crazy, anyone else experienced something like that and has an idea about a mitigation/solution?

Thank you
