HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've been running my laptop HP Elitebook X360 through my HP USB-C Dock G5  with 3 external monitors connected for a year now, but today the  external monitors stopped being detected while HP was installing an update. All screens turned black (no signal output). After installation they still didn't work. I have tried restarting, unplugging and restarting everything again. Uninstalling and then reinstalling the latest updates, but nothing helps.
I don't know what to do next? Any ideas / suggestions I can try?

I dont know what update was installed so I cant really say, but I would try reverting Windows back via a Restore Point prior to when this update was first installed. Usually it works, not sure if the update actually altered the HP Dock though.

How to use a restore point... https://support.hp.com/hk-en/document/c03327545

Hope it helps.

Thanks for your advise! I have been in contact with HP helpdesk and they have solved the problem. Apparently the problem was caused by a bios update which wasn't performed correctly. So, I updated the bios again and now all external monitors are working again.

A bios update failed? You got lucky sounds like. If it really went south, it would have bricked your laptop.

Glad its working now.

PS: Maybe you might want to consider creating Image backups to an external drive in case something does fail again?

Aomei or Macrium are a couple of popular programs that are free for that.

Good luck.

Yes, I know. I have an external drive where I save all my images as back up. But, thanks for the advise!
