Hello everyone,
I have an HP Victus 15-fb2155nw (A58SREA) gaming laptop, and I am experiencing a problem with the power button.
The laptop does not turn on when I press the power button normally. However, if I press the power button harder than usual, the laptop sometimes turns on.
Sometimes, I have to press the power button around 15–20 times before the laptop starts.
The laptop works normally after it turns on. The main problem is turning it on using the physical power button.
My questions:
Could this be a faulty power button or a problem with the button's internal contact?
Could the power button cable or connection be causing this issue?
Is there any way to turn on the laptop without using the physical power button?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem with an HP Victus laptop?
I would appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Thank you!

This is a hardware problem, possibly might be covered by warranty. It may eventually break so I would try keep the warranty going.

- Inspect for Physical Damage: Check if the power key looks crooked, sunken, or feels different in resistance compared to other keys.[ref_1]
- Hardware Service / Repair: Because the power button on many modern HP Victus models is integrated directly into the keyboard/top-case assembly rather than being a separate modular button, fixing a failing switch usually requires repairing or replacing the keyboard deck or internal power board. If the laptop is under warranty, contact HP Support. If it is out of warranty, a local computer repair technician can inspect the internal button contact.

Is the power button physically sunken, loose, or sticking?

Hello,
Thank you for your response.
When I purchased my laptop, it came with FreeDOS. I installed Windows 10 Pro myself using a USB flash drive.
About a week ago, I formatted my laptop and installed Windows 11 Pro. However, I am now experiencing this power button issue.
I would also like to explain when the problem first started.
Normally, after using my laptop, I shut it down and leave the lid open. However, on one occasion, I shut down my laptop, closed the lid, and left it like that for approximately three days. When I opened it again, I started experiencing this power button problem.
The first time I encountered this issue, I was still using Windows 10, so the problem started before I installed Windows 11.
I have also recorded a video demonstrating the power button issue. You can watch it here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN1Q4eTGRl4
Another thing I would like to mention is that my Windows installation is not activated with a genuine license. I activated it using a method involving CMD.
Could this have anything to do with my power button problem, or could it potentially cause any other issues?
I would appreciate your advice.
Thank you!
