Firstly hi, I have been using an HP Victus 16 laptop for approximately 1.5 years. Since 04.02.2026, I have been experiencing a serious and recurring issue where the screen and keyboard continuously turn on and off, and the laptop keeps trying to enter sleep mode by itself, even while I am actively using the device. I contacted HP Support regarding this problem, and I was informed that the issue is caused by a Hall sensor failure. However, after researching this issue further, I have found many forum posts indicating that HP’s authorized service in Turkey has not been able to provide a proper or permanent solution for this problem. Based on user experiences, disconnecting the related cable results in CPU performance degradation, even if a motherboard replacement is performed, there is a high probability that the same issue will reoccur over time and once the warranty period expires, customers may be asked to pay additional fees for a problem that is clearly not caused by user error.

I find this situation completely unacceptable. This is not a normal wear-and-tear issue but a manufacturing defect. Therefore, this problem falls entirely under HP’s responsibility, not the customer’s. It is also clear that HP’s authorized service in Turkey does not currently offer a valid or permanent solution for this issue. I do not accept any possibility of being charged extra for a known and widespread hardware defect once the warranty ends. I expect HP to take full responsibility and provide a permanent, reliable, and customer-oriented solution to this issue. Thank you.

Hi @Arvein,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Does the issue occur only when the lid is moved, or does it also happen when the laptop is completely stationary?
  • Have you noticed if the problem is more frequent when the battery is low or when the device is charging?
  • Have you tried updating BIOS, chipset drivers, or display drivers recently, and if so, did that change anything?

In the meantime, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try before service intervention:

  1. Update BIOS and Drivers
    • Visit the https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers and check for the latest BIOS and chipset updates for your Victus 16.
    • Install any pending updates through HP Support Assistant as well.
  2. Disable Sleep on Lid Close (Temporary Workaround)
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what closing the lid does.
    • Set “When I close the lid” to Do nothing.
    • This won’t fix the sensor itself, but it can reduce interruptions while you’re working.
  3. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
    • Restart the laptop and press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
    • Run a system test to check if any hardware issues are detected beyond the Hall sensor.
  4. Check Event Viewer Logs
  • Open Event Viewer in Windows and look under System logs for repeated sleep/wake events.
  • This can help confirm whether the Hall sensor is indeed triggering the sleep commands.

I hope this helps.

Hello again @Deep_World I did everything you suggest. I experience this issue even when the device is completely stationary. The problem occurs both when the battery level is low and when the device is charging; however, when I unplug the charger, the screen flickers less frequently. I have updated the BIOS and all other drivers. Your support team also assisted with applying several updates, but unfortunately, we were unable to resolve the issue.
