I get a HP ZBook 15 G5 (3AX06AV) with its latest BIOS version running Ubuntu 22.04.4 and a HP Thunderbolt 3 dock (aka TB3). I've checked in the BIOS settings for TB ports and everything looks fine.
So far, I've been able to connect an external VGA screen with success, I did not try other functionalities so far such as USB drive or audio device.
I'd expect that when powering the TB3 with a 230W HP power supply, the ZBook would be powered too, but it's not the case.
From what I can read here it think it should be working.
I've tried with 90W and 150W HP power supplies without success.
Anyone gets an idea what I should do to make it work, if possible?

This is the kind of alternate cable I was speaking about... Found here.

I recommend that you contact HP directly on this.
You may need warranty support for your HP TB3.

So far, I could not find the way to contact the HP support for my products...
Both are second hand products I acquired recently.
I wonder if the 'Thunderbolt/AC power cable' I own might not be the cause. The one I get has, on one end, a usb-c plug and on the other end a double plug, like this one:
But I could see there exists a cable with both sides the big double plug. Is it the kind of cable I should use?
BTW, this big double plug needs to be plugged on which part? The TB3 or the laptop?

The double plug is supposed to be plugged into the TB3 device.
I would go to a Big box store where both products (ZBook and TB3) are sold and ask for a demonstration.

Is that the cable that was in the box with the Thunderbolt 3 dock?

Nope, as I wrote before, the one I get looks exactly like I showed on the 1st picture. I bought the TB3+cable second hand, and I don't know if it's the right one for my ZBook, since the TB3 gives no power to the computer when plugged as you showed.

Have you checked the security level settings?
