Hi! My HO envy x360 shuts down suddenly while browsing the net.
-When plugged in it has charging light
- when power button is pressed light turns on and blink once.
- fan doesn’t activate
- recently changed motherboard and battery and it works fine for more than 1week until three days ago it suddenly shuts down.
Hope anyone can help me out. Thank you in advance.

Hi @bong18,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Sudden shutdowns can be quite frustrating, especially after recent hardware changes. Let's go through a series of troubleshooting steps to identify and resolve the issue with your HP Envy x360.
Check for Overheating:
- Ensure the laptop is placed on a hard, flat surface to allow proper ventilation.
- Clean any dust from the vents and fans using compressed air.
Power Reset:
- Disconnect the charger and any peripherals.
- Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain residual power.
- Reconnect the charger and try powering on the laptop again.
Check Power Adapter and Charging Port:
- Verify the power adapter is functioning correctly.
- Ensure there is no damage to the charging port.
Test with Battery Only:
- Disconnect the charger and try running the laptop on battery power only.
- If it works, then reconnect the charger to see if the issue reoccurs.
Advanced Troubleshooting
BIOS Update:
- Check if there's a BIOS update available for your model on the HP Support website. Follow the instructions to update the BIOS.
Hardware Diagnostics:
- Run HP’s hardware diagnostics tool to check for hardware issues. Restart the laptop and press F2 repeatedly during startup to access the diagnostics tool.
Event Viewer:
- Check Windows Event Viewer for any critical errors or warnings that might indicate what’s causing the shutdowns.
- Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
