HP ENVY 13-ay1000 x360 Convertible PC (3T486AV)

My HP laptop went out of charger one day and since then it won't switch on. The charging light doesn't come on when plugged in to the adapter (tested that its working). Tried connecting a type C charger but that didn't work as well.

When the charger is plugged in, the fan starts working though.

Hi @Aayush93

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP device, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today.

It sounds like your HP Envy x360 is being a bit stubborn after running out of battery! Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Lets begine with Recovering the BIOS.

Check these steps as well.

1. Check the Power Adapter which you already done i beleive.

  • Since you've tested that the adapter is working, double-check that it's securely connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet. Sometimes a loose connection can cause issues.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  1. Disconnect Power: Unplug the charger and remove any connected peripherals.
  2. Remove the Battery (if possible): If your model allows for it, remove the battery.
  3. Hold the Power Button: Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds. This will help discharge any residual power.
  4. Reconnect Everything: Plug the charger back in (and reinstall the battery if you removed it) and try turning it on.

3. Check for Charging Indicator

  • After plugging in the charger, look closely for any charging indicator lights. If nothing lights up, it could indicate a problem with the charging port.

4. Inspect the Charging Port

  • Examine the charging port for any debris or damage. Sometimes dust or lint can block the connection, preventing charging.

5. Try a Different Charger

  • If you have access to another compatible charger, try using that one. Even if your original charger seems to work, there may be an issue with the connection to the laptop.

6. Use a Different Power Outlet

  • Try plugging the charger into a different power outlet to rule out an issue with the outlet itself.

7. Leave It Charging

  • Sometimes, if the battery is completely drained, it can take a while for the laptop to recognize that it’s plugged in. Leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on again.

I hope one of these steps helps bring your laptop back to life! If you have any further questions or need more assistance, feel free to ask!

-Regards
