I got a new HP laptop and want to transfer my documents, which I have on an external hard drive, not on the cloud, but the laptop is not reading the hard drive, which works perfectly on my old computer (Acer, same operating system).

I reviewed your post and I understand that the external hard drive is not getting detected on the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
What is the product number of your computer?
Have you checked the hard drive on all the USB ports?
Are other devices working on the same USB port?
Meanwhile, I recommend you update the BIOS and the chipset driver from the below link and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
