HP Laptop - 14-fq0020nr

Its looks like from all the store pages this laptop is suppose to come with an m.2 drive in it. However it does not and It wont recognize the one I got. The motherboard has a nvme slot and I have a 512gb nvme pcie m.2 drive, so why wont windows see the drive and why on gods green earth is the advanced bios options blocked. I got this laptop in a raffle for free and I'm the one who feels like the loser. This has to be the cheapest poorly made thing I've ever seen and I can't even sell it. It has no use to me without more memory. Id atleast rather get told it only supports Sata drives than no drives at all. Then we can talk about why hp installs nvme slots instead of adding the B KEY SLOT.

Hi:

Many forum members have tried to install NVMe SSD's in that model series with negative results.

We found out that the notebook's M.2 slot only supports SATA M.2 SSD's in the models that come with the 64 GB eMMC drives.

If you exchange the M.2 NVMe SSD for a M.2 SATA SSD, it will work just fine.

That is your only option.

Here's one discussion out of several which proves this to be correct.

Solved: 14-FQ0036CL and M2 NVMe SSD - HP Support Community - 8213738

Every notebook and desktop HP makes has a M.2 slot with only one key.

A SATA M.2 SSD with two notches will fit and work in the slot, the second notch on the opposite side of the M.2 slot key doesn't use or need the contact pins it won't be touching.
