I've tried to find how to do this on a HP laptop and it seems that for some reason HP is the only manufacturer that refuses to allow users to limit battery charging to a percentage to preserve their battery. There is a tick in my BIOS "adaptive battery optimizer", however, it doesn't limit battery charging being 80% (or any percentage), it just slows down charging after 80. There are countless HP forum requests for that feature dating back almost 10 years and they seem to have fallen on deaf ears...
My use case is that more than half of the time I use my laptop plugged in, but occasionally I need to be on battery. On my old Acer and Lenovo laptops I was able to do a quick taskbar click on a button to select "conservation mode" and to turn it off whenever I wanted, and it enforced a strict limit for charging. That is, I want to be able to c large to 100 easily when I need to but keep it to a "safe" charge when I don't need maximum battery life. It seems stupid that HP doesn't have that, especially on such an expensive laptop that is boasting one of the greatest battery lives ever - I paid premium for this hardware and I want it to last!
Is there any way to limit the charging easily (i.e. not looking at the battery indicator constantly and plugging the cable in and out)? A 3rd party utility, a registry edit etc. that would allow me to avoid unnecessary overcharging of the battery?

Hi @kuberr
When the adaptive battery optimizer is active, the Battery status icon in the Windows system tray displays 100%. The notebook battery is being limited to 80% of the design charge capacity.
