HI, I bought this laptop around 2017 brand new, and when I checked the battery life, it only lasted around 4 hours(in the review of this laptop says it lasts around 6+ hours while video streaming), and I wasn't even streaming video yet the battery only lasted around 4 hours. Right now, my laptop's battery only last around 2 hours(on screen brightness 25%). Could this be my battery is dying? Or could it be some settings or bios update I could change to increase the battery life?
Thanks in Advance. 🙂

Please reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery
Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please restart the Notebook
Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
If the issue persists run a Battery Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery
Let me know how it goes 😊

Thanks for the reply. I've reinstalled the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery, but the battery still shows less than 2 hours at max charge. I've also updated the BIOs, didn't help either.
I tested the battery, and I found that, the max charge capacity is around 3.3k, and the design capacity is around 4.3k.
But I don't get it why my laptop's battery discharges at a very fast rate, from 100% to 90% only takes like 5-7min. Also something I've noticed is that the battery's remaining display time isn't displayed correctly. Sometimes at 95% battery life it shows 1hr 30min remaining, and right now as am typing the battery is at 88% and it shows 1hr 45min remaining.
Should I just get a battery and replace the current one, or is there any other way I can fix the issue?
Thanks. 🙂

Thank you for posting back.
I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (please do not skip any troubleshooting steps even if you feel steps are repeating )
BIOS default:
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer. If the issue persists, follow next steps.
