The webcam of my laptop isn't working for months now. I already contacted HP support twice and ran all the tests, installs, reinstalls, updates, bios flash/restore, diagnostics and everything they asked. Once it did work for one day and then it didn't for a month, then I did a windows update and it worked again for one day and died again. I have been looking into it with HP support again and waisted 3 hours and it is still not working. I have a care pack, but the support is worthless, running all the tests and stuff that I already did 10 times before. Pleas send a tech person over to my office to fix this issue. Whatsapp support is always telling me to wait a few minutes, and i am waiting for 1.5 hours now already with no answer. My laptop is always slow and when the webcam did work, the laptop sounded like it was going to fly away. One of 3 times there is a delay when typing and then it takes 5 seconds for one word I type. Please fix this issue or take back this worthless machine. I also regret that I payed extra for the Care Pack because the service is just as bad, Just newbie support assistants that let you run the same stupid procedures all the time.

Hi @MartenYourMind ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear about the frustrating experience you've had with your HP Spectre X360 laptop. The issue with the webcam and the overall performance problems sound particularly challenging, especially given the steps you've already taken with HP support. Here are some additional steps and suggestions that might help resolve these issues:
Webcam Issue: STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
This error typically indicates a hardware issue or a problem with the driver. Since you've already tried numerous troubleshooting steps, here are some advanced suggestions:
Check Device Manager:
- Open Device Manager.
- Locate the webcam under "Imaging devices" or "Cameras."
- Right-click the device and select "Uninstall device."
- Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Update the Driver Manually:
- Go to the HP Support website and download the latest camera driver for your specific model.
- Install the driver manually.
BIOS Settings:
- Enter the BIOS setup during boot (usually by pressing Esc, F2, F10, or F12).
- Check if there's an option to enable/disable the camera. Ensure it’s enabled.
Power Settings:
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Click on "Change plan settings" next to your selected plan.
- Click on "Change advanced power settings."
- Expand "USB settings" and then "USB selective suspend setting."
- Disable the setting.
Windows Camera Privacy Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera.
- Ensure that camera access for the device is turned on.
- Ensure that the app you are using has permission to access the camera.
Performance Issues and Typing Delays
These symptoms suggest potential underlying problems with system resources or background processes:
Check for Background Processes:
- Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
- Look for any processes that are consuming a high amount of CPU, Memory, or Disk.
- Consider ending non-essential processes or applications.
Update Windows and Drivers:
- Ensure your Windows OS is up to date.
- Use Windows Update to check for and install the latest updates.
- Check the HP Support website for the latest drivers and firmware updates for your model.
Run System File Checker (SFC) and DISM:
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
- Run the command: sfc /scannow.
- After it completes, run the command: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth.
Check for Malware:
- Run a full system scan using Windows Defender or another trusted antivirus program.
Reset or Reinstall Windows:
- If all else fails, consider performing a Windows Reset (Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC). Choose to keep your files if you prefer.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I did everything including reinstall windows, still the STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE message in de device manager. I have payed extra for the Care Pack, can't you send a mechanic over? Or let me send it to the factory? Hell, I would have HP take it back so that I can buy a laptop from a more decent brand like Dell, I've never had this bad service. I ran all steps multiple times and am done with it. This laptop is just 3 months old and besides that there is waranty on it, I have the Care Pack, Why the **** don't you offer a better solution then waisting my time over and over again.

I am having exactly the same issue. If I disable the camera, I then need to reboot for that to take effect. On rebooting, I enable it and voila it works - for a short while. It then fails again soon after. I will be grateful to know if you solve it.
