HP x360 convertible model: 14-cd1023la
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have in my possession an HP x360 convertible model: 14-cd1023la. Occasionally I would get the error message '3F0 error or Boot Device Not Found' which I know is generally a physical issue with the hard drive or boot device. Restarting it would solve the problem but ever so often the error would return after shutting down and turning it back again whenever it was to be used again. I decided to open it and check the hard drive cable and realised that the contact on the cable was corroded so I cleaned it as gently as I could. I was surprised at the corrosion as the laptop is less a little over a year old and no liquid got into it. The end contact was basically hanging off the cable and the center contact was in mid-air. anyways in attempting to straighten back the end contact it broke off and as I suspect that single contact is crucial and now the drive is not recognised at all. I have been searching for a replacement data cable and I'm seeing cables for other x360 convertible models. I would like to know if I have to get a cable specific for this model or the cables are interchangeable between models. A simply yes or no will do. Thank you all for your time.

@Original_JA

You would need one (or 2) parts on the following list

  • Hard drive rubber sleeve for use in full-featured models part # L18225-001
  • Hard drive rubber sleeve for use in full-featured plus models part #  L18226-001
  • Hard drive foil part #  L20549-001
  • Hard drive cable part #  L18218-001   (probably this part)
  • Rubber hard drive insert (for use in models without a hard drive) part #  L20550-001

Cables above are applicable for the whole series (from cd1000aa to cd1999zz)

Regards.

Thank you so much for your assistance. I didn't reply previously because I wanted to get the HDD cable, install it then tell you the result with a huge thanks. The cable finally arrived and I installed it just now. It fits perfectly but the BIOS is telling me that no hard drive is installed. The drive was working fine before so I'm almost certain that it has got to be the cable. I reseated the cable so many times. I even wiped the gold contact strips on the cable gently with tissue. I now have a headache. I went along with the cable you colour coded. I'm hugely disappointed.

  • Hard drive cable part #  L18218-001   (probably this part)

Anymore suggestion would be highly appreciated.
