Hi @LynnTj,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The pop-up you're experiencing related to "HPDC.Service_4.9.25.0" is likely an issue with the HP Device Control service. It's possible that the installation didn't complete properly or there might be some corruption in the software.
Here are steps you can take to try to resolve the issue.
Reinstall HP Device Control Service:
- Uninstall the HP Device Control service from your system.
- Download the latest version of HP Device Control Service from the official HP website.
- Install the newly downloaded version.
Update Your HP Software:
- Ensure that all your HP software and drivers are up-to-date. Outdated software can sometimes lead to issues like this.
- Visit the official HP website and use their software and driver download section to get the latest updates for your specific model.
Check for Malware:
- Sometimes, malware or adware can cause unwanted pop-ups. Run a full system scan using your antivirus software to ensure your system is clean.
Startup Programs:
- Check your system's startup programs to see if the HP Device Control service is set to run at startup. You can disable it from the "Task Manager" (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), under the "Startup" tab.
Registry Cleanup:
- Be cautious with this step, as modifying the Windows registry can cause issues if done incorrectly. Consider seeking assistance from a professional if you're not comfortable with this.
- Open the Windows Registry Editor (type "regedit" in the Windows search bar).
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HP\HPDC\Service.
- Check if there are any entries related to HP Device Control service, and if they are causing the pop-up.
- Backup your registry before making any changes, and only proceed if you're confident in what you're doing.
Reset or Reinstall Windows:
- If all else fails, you may need to consider resetting or reinstalling Windows. This should be a last resort, as it will remove all your installed software and data. Make sure to back up your important files before proceeding.
Remember to back up your data and important files before making any significant changes to your system. Always use caution when modifying system settings or the Windows Registry, as it can lead to unintended consequences.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
