Hard Disk error 301

Hello, 

I am recently having this trouble, my laptop suddenly turns blue screen with a sad face and an error and restarting message. When I try to start the laptop a black screen with a error message - hard disk 1 (301) comes up. What is the problem and how to solve it?

Try again with other test. If newsly fail, then you needed replace the Hard Disk.

Thank you for the answer. I think it is gone for good. How soon do I need to change the hard drive? I have my exams in 1 month, so too busy to go to change? Can I use a larger size hard drive, like 2 tb?
