After updating the BIOS on my HP computer, I encountered a critical issue with my hard drive. Every time I start up or reboot the computer, the Hard Disk 1 (301) error appears. To address this issue, I followed the recommendation provided in the error message and ran the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics. Upon running the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI, I received the following error message:

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI Testing Selected Drives: 1 SMART Check: RECOMMENDED ACTION - Executing DST... Long DST: FAILED FAILURE ID: Q8DA6M-000BM3-MFPW2J-61AP03 PRODUCT ID: 1LU52AV Hard Drive 1 HDD 1 Temperature: 28 degrees Celsius

Current Version: 1.26.0.0 - BIOS Go to www.hp.com/embed/uefi to enter the Failure ID. Back to main menu

I am concerned about the failure of the Long DST test and the associated error code. The hard drive's temperature appears normal, but the test result indicates a problem. This issue occurred immediately after the BIOS update.

The hard drive is working perfectly fine, there have been no complaints or issues with it. It would have continued to work without any errors if the Windows update hadn't updated the BIOS without my consent.

I kindly request the community's assistance in identifying the root cause of this error, rather than suggesting to replace the hard drive. Any insights or explanations regarding the potential reasons behind the error would be highly valued. It is important to note that the hard drive is operating perfectly fine, despite the error message being displayed.

Please note that I have already visited the HP website mentioned in the error message, but I was unable to find any relevant information regarding the specific failure ID.

Thank you in advance for your support.

You might try the hard drive sentinel app.  Free download, but there is a trial period.  Here is a typical error report
