I just turned my pc on as usual, and suddenly is shown an error message indicating that I have to do a backup of my hard drive and run a hard drive test from boot.  I followed the steps and the hard drive test shows the following info: 

 

Testing Drive:1

SMART Check: Failed

 

Failure ID: 9GE0Q1-83UAPH-XD7V7F-60EL03

Product ID: J8B82PA#ACJ

 

Hard disk 1

 

Hard Disk Test: FAILED

You will need to install a new hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

 

Below is the link to the service manual, where you can find the hard drive removal and replacement procedure.

You may want to consider replacing the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a better performing 2.5" solid state drive (SSD).

 

After you replace the drive, you can reinstall W10 for free by making bootable installation media with the Media creation tool from the link below.

 

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

 

You boot from the installation media, select the version of W10 you need to install.

 

Then you will be asked to enter a product key.  When you get to that screen, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once your PC is connected to the internet.

 

Then you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.
