Hello Community,
I dropped my Laptop and now I have an STD virus.
Wait. No. I have a DST fail.
I think I need to purchase/ install a new hard drive?
If so, would someone provide next steps? Which product and how to install?

Hello @Xioblack
Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... and I would like to help you.
(1) Your <mechanical hard drive> has been damaged, so you will have to replace it.
You can choose a better one, for example SSD 2.5" drive.
(2) Download -> Maintenance and Service Guide
Page 50 Chapter 6 Removal and replacement procedures for Authorized Service Provider parts
Page 51 Component replacement procedures
(3) Reinstall your operating system
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 10

( All HP drivers and software included )

The diagnostic code translates to Failure code 303 - Hard disk short test failure.
I suggest transferring anything important to an external disk, if you can still do that.
Did you already create a USB Recovery flash drive?
If not, now is the time to do that.
I would recommend using a SATA SSD this time for a serious upgrade in performance.
From the Maintenance & Service guide for your notebook model series the following storage devices are compatible:
Hard drives
Supports 6.35-cm (2.5-in) SATA hard drives in 9.5-mm (.37-in) and 7.0-mm (.28-in) thicknesses
Single hard drive configurations:
● 2-TB, 5400-rpm, 9.5-mm
● 1-TB, 5400-rpm, 9.5-mm
● 500-GB, 5400-rpm, 7.2-mm
SSHD configuration:
● 1-TB, 5400-rpm + 8GB NAND Hybrid hard drive, 9.5mm
M.2 SATA-3 configurations:
● 256 GB
● 128 GB
I suggest using one that has 500 GB capacity.
You can have this done by a shop or you can accept the risk and use videos on YouTube which show how to do it yourself. The choice is yours.
Here are Crucial memory's SSD offerings which are guaranteed to be compatible with your notebook.

Hello @Xioblack
(1) You need another (windows) computer to prepare <usb flash drive>
Ask a neighbor/acquaintance if you don't have a 2nd computer.
