Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, My G5 250 Hp Laptop's hard drive is keep freezing with slow transfer rate of files etc. I did the test after pressing F2  and it says it failed. If I buy a new Hard drive how do I get a new copy of windows on it. It didn't come with a disk but with windows already installed. How do I get that on a new drive without a serial please?

@EDGE1971

You have to use the HP CLoud Recovery option described below to create boot media and then use that, with the new drive in place, to restore your PC to working condition.

If your PC is a 2016 model or newer, you should see if you can make a bootable USB recovery drive using the HP cloud recovery tool on a working PC.

The recovery drive can then be used to install Win10 and the HP drivers and utilities that originally came with your PC.

Hi, I couldn't make an image because the hard drive was  too slow and kept saying error every time I tried to create the recovery media. I used Bell-arc software to find the serial and then just created a  boot disk on my pc  for another computer.

I was surprised the serial thing worked because I had used it before on another PC and the serial didn't work.

Thanks for the help though by the way
