Here's the parts list for your notebook:

 

HP PartSurfer

 

According to the parts list the motherboard has a Mobile Intel GL40 chipset which only supports up to 2 x 2 GB of DDR3-10600 memory.

 

Chipset specs (Indicates DDR2, but we already know the notebook uses DDR3 memory).

 

Intel® 82GL40 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub

 

The notebook originally came with 3 GB of memory (2 GB +1 GB).

 

So, you would need to buy 2 GB DDR3-10600 memory chips.
