HP Notebook 14-dq1025cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My hp laptop 14 dq1025cl comes with a 256gb m.2 drive i was wondering if I can add a hard drive to this since there is an 8 pin connector beside it.

Unfortunately it does NOT support dual storage options therefore you can NOT add more storage to your machine. You can replace its existing 256GB using 1TB or 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD such as

            https://www.samsung.com/au/memory-storage/nvme-ssd/970-evo-plus-nvme-m-2-ssd-1tb-mz-v7s1t0bw/?srslti...

Note : 2.5" HDD or 2.5" SSD has more than 8 pins.

Regards.
