Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-e0000 (2V8Z6AV)

I sent my device, which I have been using for about a year, to the service under warranty because it had a heating problem recently. My device, whose fan cleaning and paste was renewed by the service, arrived about 2 days ago, but my computer reaches 100 degrees while playing games. I don't know what I should do..

Hi @Tower02 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your Victus By HP 16.1 Inch Gaming Laptop is still overheating after having the thermal paste and fan cleaned,

here are some steps you can take:

Check for Dust and Ventilation:

  • Ensure that there’s no dust blocking the vents. Dust accumulation can restrict airflow and cause overheating. Use a can of compressed air to clean the vents if necessary.

Update Drivers and BIOS:

  • Make sure your graphics card drivers, chipset drivers, and BIOS are up-to-date. Outdated drivers can cause inefficiencies in how your hardware handles tasks.

Check Power Settings:

  • Go to the Windows power settings and ensure your laptop is set to a balanced or high-performance mode. Sometimes, power-saving modes can cause your CPU/GPU to run less efficiently.

Inspect the Cooling System:

  • Verify that the cooling system (fans, heat pipes) was reassembled correctly. If the fans are not functioning properly or if the thermal paste application was not done correctly, it could lead to overheating.

Consider Repasting and Reassembly:

  • If you’re comfortable with it, or if the service center agrees, you might want to consider having the thermal paste reapplied or the cooling system rechecked. It’s possible that the thermal paste was not applied correctly or the cooling system was not reassembled properly.

Environmental Factors:

  • Ensure that you’re using the laptop on a hard, flat surface to allow for proper airflow. Using it on a soft surface like a bed or couch can block vents and cause overheating.

Test with Different Games or Software:

  • Sometimes, specific games or software can cause excessive heat due to high resource usage. Try testing with different programs to see if the overheating issue persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hello, when I received the product from the service (as you can see in the images below), the service seems a bit negligent as the thermal paste application was not done very well. I bought a new paste, "Arctic mx-6" brand paste, and frankly, I'm thinking of changing the thermal pads because they put something dark on them. Do you have any information? Do you have any information about what kind of pad I should buy and how many mm it should be?WhatsApp Image 2024-07-23 at 15.41.20.jpeg
