I recently bought an HP laptop and I want to register it on the HP support website. The problem is, I’m not sure where exactly to find the serial number. I’ve checked the bottom of the laptop but couldn’t find a clear label.

Is there another way (maybe through Windows or BIOS) to view the serial number? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

If the serial number isn’t visible on the laptop itself, you can still find it in these ways:

  1. Open Windows Command Prompt as Administrator → type, or copy/paste and Enter:

    wmic bios get serialnumber

    (shows the system's serial).

  2. BIOS/UEFI → restart, press F10 (or Esc → F1/F10), check System Information.

  3. HP Support Assistant (if installed) → opens product details including the serial.

  4. Original box / invoice → often has the serial sticker.
