Hello. I've been trying to connect my pen to my laptop for days and I can't. When I bought my laptop about 4 years ago I used the pen normally and haven't used it since. I can't connect it at all and yes I've fully charged it. What can I do?

Hi @Anna982

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Since your HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen worked before but isn’t connecting now, let’s go through some troubleshooting steps:

1. Check If the Pen Is Recognized

  • Go to Settings (Win + I) → DevicesBluetooth & other devices.
  • See if the pen appears in the list. If it does, remove it and try reconnecting.

2. Reset the Pen

  • Press and hold the top button on the pen for 7-10 seconds until the LED blinks.
  • Try pairing it again via SettingsBluetooth & other devicesAdd a deviceBluetooth.

3. Update Windows & Drivers

  • Go to SettingsWindows UpdateCheck for updates.
  • Open Device Manager (Win + X → **Device Manager`) → Expand Human Interface Devices.
  • Look for HID-compliant pen or HP Pen → Right-click → Update driverSearch automatically.

4. Test the Pen in Another App

  • Open Microsoft Whiteboard or OneNote and try writing.
  • If the pen doesn’t work, it may need recalibration.

5. Consider Battery or Hardware Issues

  • If the pen doesn’t show any LED light when pressing the button, the battery may have degraded over time.
  • Try charging it with a different USB-C cable and adapter.
