Hi, I keep losing the time and date when I close the HP 15s-eq2510sa (but not if I shut it down. I suspect the memory battery is failing and needs changing but where is it ? It is not obvious on the mother board unless it is not one of the "silver button" types. Any ideas ?

Hi:
Your notebook does not have a CMOS/RTC battery.
The main battery also serves as the CMOS/RTC battery to maintain the BIOS and system clock settings.
Below is the link to the service manual:
Chapter 3 has the list of parts.
You will find no CMOS/RTC battery listed.
Chapter 5 has the component removal and replacement procedures.
You will find no procedure to remove and replace a CMOS/RTC battery.

Many thanks for that, I assume therefore, that the main battery is on its way out although I still get plenty of working time with it. I bought the laptop as "refurbished" just over a year ago so I don't know how much previous use the battery has had. I will accept the intermittent time & date change until the on-time drops to a level which is unacceptable. I think I can accept your post as the solution, thanks once again.

You're very welcome.
You may want to test the battery.
This link has various methods to do that:
