I had my HP Envy13 motherboard replaced under warranty 2-1/2 years ago. Recently it wouldn't power up and I could hear something loose rattling inside. I removed the back and found one of the screws holding the motherboard down had come out and shorted out something on the motherboard - a component in the area near the screw was visibly burned. I replaced the screw and noticed ALL of the other motherboard screws were loose so I tightened them. I plugged in the power cord and noticed after a few minutes that another component in the vicinity of the screw was getting extremely hot. I would like to return the laptop to HP for repair but I can't figure out how to do it after browsing the HP web site. The unit is no longer under warranty. Thanks in advance for your help.

Short Answer
HP Support does not typically accept Out-of-Warranty requests for repair.
As you know, the motherboard is "most of the cost" of the computer.
After you get an estimate for board replace or repair, you'll have to decide whether the system is worth the hassle and expense.
Of course, this is is all going to be easier if you have current backups of your personal data.
