Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

If your notebook computer has a backlit keyboard, press the F5 or F4 (some models) key on the keyboard to turn the light on or off. It might be necessary to press the fn (function) key at the same time. If the backlight icon is not on the F5 key, look for the backlit keyboard key on the row of function keys.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

The modes are only levels of brightness. Not how long it stays on. It's annoying to have a back-lit keyboard that stays off more than half of the time. I want it to stay on even when I'm not typing.

So there is no easy fix for this? Like a setting? I'v been trying for 2 days how to access the BIOS setting for this but it seems HP doesn't want us to customize theses things. 😞

Tech Support is not helping. Is there no easy setting change for this? It's really frustrating. If I had known ahead of time I would've gone with something else 😕

To get the answer to this question, It's absolutely normal and a feature by design. therefore no such options available in order to change your desire settings.

There was supposedly a way to do this through bios that I read on another forum but I can't access advanced bios settings.
