Hi all,
can someone can explain all the rules and specs we have to take in consideration to determine if a CPU is compatible or not with a motherboard and/or RAM memory?
Thank you!

Hi,
That series supports these CPUs:
Max RAM is 8GB of DDR2 800Mhz RAM (2x4GB)
Example of RAM:

Hope it helps,
David

Hi Iomare,
Thank you for this information!
To go further, can you explain what are the rules to determine if a CPU is compatible or not with a motherboard and/or RAM, except the socket type?
And for the RAM, I realized I upgrade to 8GB years ago, but with 400Mhz... Does it have a negative impact on the speed of the computer or on overheating?

Usually, I look at the service manual and see what processors the models in that series can be fitted with. It is not only "what fits the socket" but what will be recognized. I can not see the manual on the HP site for this older model, but you can take a look here:
https://www.manualslib.com/manual/273613/Hp-Pavilion-Dv7-1023.html?page=11#manual
Probably the RAM you have installed is 800MHz RAM
Hope it helps,
David

The problem is that I can’t find ANYTHING concerning my computer model... looks like someone erased it from the entire Internet! 😞
So, I can’t find the service manual, and can’t see what CPU’s can be recognized.
Thanks for your help.
