Paul_Tikkanen, your "I would contact the manufacturer of the SSD, let them know the drive test report you are getting and see what they say about it.". . .this advice was, once again, right on target; and I THANK YOU! I went to the Best Buy website and got my purchase receipt info for the new SSD and I started a manufacturer warranty claim (with Crucial). I submitted my request and I am now waiting for their "one business day" reply. Geeze, we are so used to INSTANT replies aren't we?! (lol)

Paul_Tikkanen, I am just now getting to return the SSD for replacement. Since I did not purchase it from Crucial, a replacement is all they will do. Anyway, should I format the SSD prior to packing it up for shipping? If so, could you share the best means of accomplishing that?

Hi:
If you removed the drive from your notebook already, you would have to do one of two things:
A. Reinstall the Crucial SSD and use the plain W11 installation media you created to clean the disk.
- Disconnect all other HD/SSD except the one you want to clean
- Boot from Windows Installation media
- On first screen, press SHIFT+F10 then type:
diskpart
select disk 0
clean
exit
Shut down the PC and remove the drive.
B. If you have another PC with a USB3 or USB-C port, you can purchase a USB to NVMe adapter.
Something like this:
Install the SSD in the adapter, plug the adapter into the other PC's USB3/USB-C port and use the command prompt to clean the disk from within Windows.
Just make sure you select the right disk to clean!
It won't be disk 0.
That would be your other PC's hard drive., The NVMe SSD will probably be disk 1.
Or you can format the Crucial drive in Windows explorer by right-clicking on the crucial disk and select 'Format'
It will not be drive C:\ in another PC.
Or if you don't have any personal files or data that you would not want anyone else to read/access, you can just send the drive in.
They are probably going to discard the drive anyway.

Thank you so much, Paul_Tikkanen. The SSD has been returned and should be delivered to Crucial (the manufacturer) today. And then, I guess it's a wait and see type thing. Prayerfully it will be replaced (with a new SSD) and it won't take so long for a new one to be delivered. This sure has been a long process and it has definitely caused me to be more determined to be a bit more careful/more wise with future purchases. But what can I say, we learn from things like this. 😊
You have most definitely made this whole ordeal easier though with your expert advice, your right on-target suggestions and your precise/professional instructions. Again, thank you so much!
God bless!
