Does anybody know how I can increase the scroll speed of the touchpad? I mean scrolling up and down with two fingers on the pad. It is really uncomfortable when I am browsing through multiple page PDF documents, for example.
I cannot find settings for scroll speed in my computer, I have not found any answers on the internet.

Hi @Binkie010,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
To increase the touchpad scroll speed on your HP Laptop 17-cn2050nd, follow these steps:
Adjust Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Under Scroll & Zoom, adjust the scroll speed slider to your preferred speed.
Update or Reinstall Touchpad Driver:
- Open Device Manager > expand Mice and other pointing devices.
- Right-click on the touchpad driver (e.g., Synaptics or Precision Touchpad), and select Update driver.
- If the issue persists, uninstall the driver and restart the laptop to reinstall it automatically.
Check Additional Touchpad Software:
- If your laptop uses Synaptics or ELAN touchpad, check for any additional software installed (e.g., Synaptics Control Panel or ELAN settings), where you can further adjust the scroll speed settings.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi Elohi_NR,
Thanks for your reply.
I had already tried to update the driver but then it says that the driver is already up to date. I have now reinstalled the driver, the way you suggested, but nothing has changed.
The thing is that there is no slider for the scroll speed. Not under Settings > Devices > Touchpad and then Scroll & Zoom nor anywhere else.
Under Scroll & Zoom I can only check "drag with two finger to scroll" , "squeeze for zoom in" (my translation from dutch) and I can change the direction, up or down, of the scroll.
I did not find any additional touchpad software on my laptop. The touchpad is a Synaptics. Should I install something like Synaptics Control Panel to get additional settings for the touchpad?
PS. I bought this laptop new earlier this year. The problem of not being able to change the scroll speed was from the begin.
Kind regards.

I have had contact with HP support. Via remote acces the HP technician searched for the scroll speed setting in my laptop but could not find it. The HP technician then told me that I should contact Microsoft. So I did.
The Microsoft Technician also tried to find the scroll scroll speed setting in my computer via remote acces, but could not find it either.
This Microsoft technician explained me that this is a "precision touchpad". It is supposed to give me a scroll experience wich is similair to swiping up/down on the touchscreen of a smartphone.
If you have to swipe a whole lot up or down on a smartphone you can let the display roll for a while with just a short move of the finger. And this is indeed the case with the touchpad on my new HP laptop. With a short two finger swipe on the touchpad I can let the screen roll up or down for a while.
This is not the case on my 15 years old Toshiba Satellite Laptop. This laptop ran on Windows 7 initially, but was upgraded to Windows 10. On my old laptop I am able to adjust the scroll speed, but it is not able to let the screen roll like on a smartphone.
So now I am a little confused, There seems no possibility to change the scroll speed under Windows 11. Nevertheless I can let the screen roll up or down, for example when I'm examining a multiple page PDF document. Is it something that I will get used to?
I still feel like there should be a slider somewhere in the settings to adjust the scroll speed like on my old Laptop, but apperently that is something for Microsoft to arrange, not for HP.

BTW:
That Microsoft Technician asked me why I did not use a mouse. He seemed a little surprised when I told him that I abandoned the mouse a long time ago. I guess I belong to those who just don't understand why some laptop users still use a mouse. To me a well working touchpad is much more convenient than any mouse.
