My HP Pavilion Notebook 17-g121wm came with Windows 10 Home (64-bit) installed. I just yesterday switched out the original hard drive for a brand new one. The machine is recognizing it as a diagnostics test of the hard drive passed. I downloaded the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to a USB flash drive. Upon loading the Startup Menu and pressing F9 for Boot Device Options and choosing the MCT on the screen saying Boot Manager - Boot Option Menu, the trouble now is when the Windows installation screen loads and I select Install Now and see Setup is starting, then I get applicable notices and license terms. I click to accept, then a choice between Upgrade and Custom. I choose Upgrade and then I'm being asked for drivers. I was provided a link to https://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/hp-pavilion-17-g100-notebook-pc-series/8499304 but it seems that continuing with this wizard will result in updating the drivers on this machine I am working with. How do I now load the necessary drivers on the machine into which I've just installed the new hard drive?

Hi @marneo
This laptop does not need drivers during installation, the problem may be in the creation of the installation USB, try again to create a new USB.

I didn't mention this earlier but the fact is that I already had a version of the Microsoft media creation tool loaded onto a DVD from a few years ago and also tried to use that to boot into the Windows 10 installation screen yesterday and I likewise could not get past the early stages of the installation process with it either so I am highly doubtful that neither of the 2 bootable Windows 10 installation media will allow me to proceed. When you say "this laptop does not need drivers during installation", can I surmise then that some laptops do? I was definitely being prompted for drivers.

the drivers are generally requested by intel processors of the 11th generation and up, and this is not your case. I would download the latest windows 10 version from microsoft on a USB installer,

It should not, unless the disk is damaged or the installation USB or DVD is corrupted.
