I would like to know how to upgrade my RAM to 8 GB on my HP 255 G4 Notebook PC.

See p. 44 for "how-to". 

 

Add one of these:

 

4-GB (PC3L, 12800, 1600-MHz) 691740-005

That will take you from 4 to 8 gigs. Technically, this procedure will put the warranty in jeopardy, but it is not terribly difficult to do. Remove the bottom cover and the memory slots are there. If you choose to go ahead and do it, be careful and follow the manual closely as there are lots of screws.
