Hi,
I'm Sakib using an HP Firefly Zbook 14 G8 laptop, brought in recently. I've noticed a smart card reader on my laptop. Can anyone explain to me how it is used, how the cards can be used, on which orientation I have to insert my card, and for which purposes I can use this built-in smart card reader?
Curious to know, I'll be very glad to know
Thanks

The Smart Card is for commercial, government and military security applications.
For example, with a military or government version of the Firefly laptop I could use my DOD (department of defense)CAC (Common access card) military identification card to access the laptop, if I still had my security clearance.
The SmartCard reader is not for everyday people, it is an access card reader that allows access for people with security clearances to a highly secure laptops and networks.

No.
That is not what it is for.
There is special firmware and software required to use the SmartCard.
Unfortunately, it is unlikely that you will find a use for the SmartCard reader as an ordinary person in your environment .
