Hi support community.
is there a possibility for newer gen. Notebooks like mine, to Flash up the bios @ a very low/early start up state/time by usb media, like i have read it has been the case for older gen hp notebook( press button a button b simultaneously and for x seconds the power button). I am unhappy with my bios and I do not like online/network bios updates.
second question: if someone would have fun soldering chips on boards even If today anybody does it anymore, would it work (?) to replace the bios Chip as it is one of the last components that are still big enough to work with without using microscopic tools. If yes how can I find a spare part replacement bios, without buying a flight ticket to China and looking on the second hand recycling market ? Thx in prior for all your answers.
P.s. I newly learned that notebooks nowerdays have to have the windows product id implemented in the bios chip.
let’s say a hp laptop which was shipped with an installation gets disgunctional and I buy a new one without a windows installation Is it technically & legally possible to transfer the windows license from the broke notebook to the new one ?

@Rambot The OEM BIOS Chip isn't something we can purchase as such, that said, as per the error you've mentioned, if this is the article you are referring to: click here to verify,
- Reseat the memory. See the section Reseating memory modules in a notebook for more information.
- If reseating the memory does not resolve the problem, try replacing the memory modules. You might also consider contacting support for repair due to a possible RAM or system board failure.
And if you've already reseated the memory and yet the issue persists, we may be looking at a hardware malfunction and I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:
1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Click on "Show Options".
Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!
Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

@Rambot Greetings from the HP Community!
Let's deal with this one at a time:
1) You can recover an older version of BIOS, if you are having trouble with the current BIOS: Click here for details on how to get it done.
2) HP does not recommend changing the BIOS as such, as it may render the device unstable.
3) I'm afraid the Microsoft licence is not transferable.
I hope that answers your query,

Hey. Thx for your advice, which I only noticed today because it went somehow to spam/unimportant mailbin. Ok I followed the steps, namely downloading the official supportfirmware and creating a usb update media. Inserted it, pressed Win button b /v button and power button for 3 second. Several tryings later something happened a graphic containing three gear wheels and the info „programming pei region“ has been displayed. Than the notebook restarted and the fan was working and the cap loc led was blinking. I thought it is still flashing the ROM, but nearly half an hour later I thought why it takes so long. So I looked up the blink code on the official hp documentation and 3.2 three long two short blinks, which means the embedded controller times out waiting for Bios to return from memory initialization( reseat the memory). I powered it of and powered it restarted a few times and now it is again in the 3.2 blinking and working fan mode. Can anyone explain what happened here ? If the bios is now totally corrupted can I buy I new oem BIOS Chip ? How do I know which and where to get one?
