I'm considering upgrading the storage on my HP 250 G7 laptop (i3 10th Gen) and need some advice. My laptop has an M.2 slot, a SATA slot, and a DVD drive slot. I'd like to know what types of storage devices I can install in these slots and what the maximum storage capacity my laptop can handle.

Your notebook's M.2 slot supports NVMe SSD's.

 

Theoretically, there is no storage limit on the capacity drive you can install as long as it is single-sided so that it fits in the slot.

 

The Crucial SSD report indicates that they sell NVMe SSDs' up to 4 TB for your notebook's model series:

 

HP HP 250 G7 (Intel Core i7/ i5/ i3) | SSD & RAM Upgrades | crucial.com

 

Your notebook's SSD slot is PCIe Gen 3.0.

 

While a Gen 4.0 SSD will work, it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from the Gem 3.0 slot.
