Do you mean that this laptop series comes without any CMOS battery? So I'll receive this error (and bios reset) even if the battery will drop to 0%, right?

this happened to me one week ago, after two or three weeks of the laptop being inactive: I found the battery at 0%. I started charging the laptop and, when I switched on, i had the invalid checksum error.

Can you confirm it's normal to have a battery drain after two/three weeks of inactivity inactive and that it's normal to find this error when the battery goes to 0?

Meanwhile I'm testing another SSD, I'll keep you posted about that.

Many thanks for your support

Yes the main system battery doubles as the CMOS/BIOS/RTC battery so if it goes to zero (or you disconnect which is the same thing) you lose BIOS settings.

Battery drain is another issue that has some traffic on the Forum and is being investigated. Users are reporting at least .5% per day and up to almost 2% per day drain on some models. It appears to help somewhat to turn off fast start in the power options in the control panel.

I am troubled that your M.2 mSSD does not work. As I said I have installed that model PM961 or SM961 or similar in 4 different HP laptops with PCIe/NVME support and never had a problem.

Good news this time! 🙂

I tried a Samsung EVO 960 and it was immediately recognized!

Now this is another laptop and I'm very happy with it.

Thank you so much for your support

Hey 80Chips, I have a similar issue.  I have a HP Pavilion 15-CK075NR and I tried the Samsung EVO 960 250GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD and my system did not recognize it in the BIOS.   Can you tell me what the BIOS version is for your system? Last year, I was told by HP that the HP Pavilion 15-CK00000 models can only use M.2 SSDs with the SATA interface.
