@mamatka6, Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP device.
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!
It seems like you're experiencing an intermittent issue with the display on your HP laptop. This kind of issue can arise due to several factors, such as display settings, graphics driver issues, or even hardware connections.
However please let us know the make and model of the HP device so that we can assist you further.
You can also try a few troubleshooting steps provided below:
-
Power Drain/Hard Reset: Since the hard reset worked a few times for you, it's a good first step. Ensure that you perform a power drain by disconnecting the power adapter and removing the battery (if possible), then holding down the power button for about 15 seconds.
-
Check Display Settings: Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor or TV using an HDMI cable. This will help you determine if the issue is with the display itself or the internal graphics.
-
Graphics Drivers: If you're able to access the laptop in safe mode or with an external monitor:
- Update your graphics drivers by visiting the HP Support website or through Device Manager.
- Reinstall the graphics drivers using the latest version from the HP website or directly from the graphics card manufacturer's site.
-
Display Connections: Occasionally, loose internal connections can cause display issues:
- If you feel comfortable and the laptop's warranty has expired, you can gently check if the display's connection is secure by accessing the RAM and HDD compartment.
- Please note that opening the laptop can void warranties, so proceed with caution.
-
BIOS Update: Ensure your system BIOS is up to date, as updates can resolve display issues related to startup.
I hope this helps!
Take care and have an amazing day!
