I said nothing about an optical drive. Take a few moments to look at the Manual. There is one "bay" and it can hold either a regular 2.5 inch drive or an M.2 depending on the adapter and cable used. If your laptop is delivered with a regular hard drive you have one kind of hardware which could also be used for a 2.5 inch SATA SSD, not an M.2. SATA 2.5 inch and SATA M.2 work at the same speed.

Here's the Service Manual:
This is a bit hard to understand because it covers so many different models. Yours is the AMD E2 processor. The Manual seems to say it has 2 slots and can take up to 16 gigs (2 x 😎 of DDR3L-1600 SO-DIMM. You have a single 4 gig module now. I am pretty sure, however, if you open it up you will find one memory slot.
"how to" starts on page 42.
It can take an M.2 SATA disk but only if you remove the hard drive and replace it with an M.2 adapter board to hold the M.2 drive. You would need to buy an M.2 disk plus the adapter board and a special cable. Much cheaper and easier to just install a 2.5 inch SATA SSD in place of the hard drive. Speed will be the same and the total cost of the upgrade will be much less.
