Hi:

HP retired support for that model series since it is more than 10 years old.

Below is the link to the service manual.  The memory upgrade info can be found in chapter 1.

c02834221.pdf (hp.com)

You are correct.  The notebook supports 8 GB of memory.

I would just replace the 2 GB memory chip with a 4 GB chip having the same specifications as the 4 GB chip currently installed.

It should not have to be the same brand or part number.

BIOS:  Since you are running W10, and none of the BIOS updates were written to be run on W10, I don't know what will happen if you try to update the BIOS using an unsupported operating system.

Here is the link to the last BIOS update (F.6A) HP released for your notebook from this reputable 3rd party website.

hello Paul_Tikkanen

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

chapter 1 page 43 :

"support up to 8 GB of system memory in the following configuration

"

Im an not sure it will support 2 sticks of 4 GB

I believe the correct part number is :

4 GB PC3 106000 1333 Mhz Shared - spare part number 621569-001

I will try to look for this component to upgrade, and give it a try.

Again thank you for taking the time to reply !

You're very welcome.

It looks like HP simply omitted the 2 x 4 GB configuration on page 3 of the service manual.

It did state the notebook supports 8 GB.

You can always do this to confirm how much memory your notebook can support:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

I searched eBay.es by the memory part number you posted from the manual and found these listings:

621569-001 en venta - | eBay

You should also be able to use this compatible chip:

Crucial 4GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM | CT51264BF160B | Crucial EU

It is less expensive on Amazon.es.

Crucial RAM CT51264BF160B 4 GB DDR3L 1600 MHz CL11 Memoria Portátil : Micron: Amazon.es: Informática
