Hi,

You can find a list of processors supported from the following book:

Hi

thanks for the quick reply!

but does that mean i cannot install this processor?

Intel® Core™ i7-2760QM : http://ark.intel.com/products/53474/

Hello bbjc03. According to the document which banhien linked to the only i7 processor supported by your notebook is the 2620M.

If you try to install an unsupported processor it is unlikely that it will work properly.

Have a great day!

I have a probook 6560b, just upgraded from a i52520m to the i72760qm and it works just fine. it has the latest bios as of 11/18/15

Excellent news, I have upscaled mine to 2620M, 2.7-GHz (turbo up to 3.4-GHz) processor with 4-MB L3 cache, I actually bought the same as yours but returned it on the fear of just burning out a cpu or machine for testing purposes but now I know you can safely upgrade to a four core, i will push on and do it

Thanks

I've done my homework since then, the socket on the probook series is FCPGA988, which means any processessor from the 2nd and 3rd gen i7 range found here http://ark.intel.com/products/family/59136/2nd-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processors#@Mobile and http://ark.intel.com/products/family/65506/3rd-Generation-Intel-Core-i7-Processors#@Mobile obviously worthy of a try, the processoers Im going to try would increase speed by about 20%

I'm going to try a

i7-2820QM

or a

i7-2860QM

I'll let you all know how it goes, if I can get a 3rd gen i7 I will slam it in and takes my chances, the lower end i7's go cheap enough to try, they're all the same socket but version 4000 in ghraphics, maybe that will make the difference, won't know till i try

I installed a i7-2620M which worked fantastically, I did some research and asked a couple of intel guys and they said I can stick any 2nd gen i7 in the probook so I am now running the i7-2820QM in a probook 6560b with 16gb ram, you really notice the difference with 4 cores even though the 2620 had a turbo it's still only on one core.

Hope this helps you out guys
