Hi @Suryak1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP v220w USB flash drive is not readable and your computer is asking you to insert a disk into the USB drive, it indicates that the computer is unable to recognize the storage medium. This issue can be caused by several factors, including corrupted files, driver issues, or hardware problems. Here are some steps you can follow to try and resolve the issue:
Try a Different USB Port or Computer: Sometimes, the problem might be with the USB port itself. Try plugging the USB flash drive into a different port or even a different computer to see if it is recognized.
Check Disk Management:
- On Windows, press Windows + X and select "Disk Management". Look for your USB drive. If it appears but does not have a drive letter assigned, right-click on it and choose "Change Drive Letter and Paths" to assign one.
- If the drive is shown as "Unallocated", it might need to be initialized or a new volume created, which will erase all data on the drive.
Update USB Drivers:
- Go to "Device Manager" by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting it.
- Locate "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and expand it.
- Right-click on the drivers and select "Update driver" for each one. This can help if the issue is related to outdated or corrupted drivers.
System restore: Please use the link to perform system restore. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2026000-1498532-16
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
