Hi @FAHEEM_154,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how disappointing it is when a new laptop doesn’t meet the advertised battery life. Here’s what’s happening and what you can do:

Why Battery Life Is Shorter Than Expected

  • Advertised 7 hours is based on light usage (web browsing, low brightness, no heavy apps).
  • Real-world usage (streaming, multitasking, high brightness) can reduce it to 2–3 hours.
  • Other factors:
    • Background apps running
    • High-performance mode enabled
    • Battery calibration issues

Steps to Improve Battery Life

  1. Check Battery Health
    • Press Windows + X → PowerShell (Admin).
    • Type: powercfg /batteryreport
    • This creates a report showing battery capacity vs design capacity.

  2. Update BIOS & Drivers
  3. Adjust Power Settings
    • Settings → System → Power & Battery → Power Mode → Set to Balanced or Battery Saver.
    • Lower screen brightness.

  4. Disable Background Apps
    • Settings → Apps → Startup → Turn off unnecessary apps.

  5. Calibrate Battery
    • Charge to 100%, then use until it shuts down.
    • Recharge fully without interruption.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
