Hi @Ismaila1_2,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like the Num Lock feature might be enabled on your HP laptop, which can cause the letter keys to be unresponsive while allowing number keys to work. Here's how you can try to fix it.

Turn off Num Lock

  • Look for a "Num Lock" key on your keyboard. It might be labeled as "Num Lock", "NumLk", or sometimes just as a symbol that looks like a padlock with numbers next to it.
  • Press the Num Lock key. If your keyboard has a light indicator for Num Lock, check if the light goes off.
  • Try typing again. The letter keys should work now.

Use Shift + Num Lock (if the above doesn't work)

  • Some HP laptops might require you to press Shift + Num Lock to toggle the numeric keypad mode off. After doing this, test if the letter keys are working again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
