Good day, folks!
I have my old HP Pavilion dv7-4070er with Intel i5 480M and HM55 chipset. Manual says dv7's need DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHz. Right now I have two Samsung 2 Gb DDR3 1333 MHz SODIMM CL9 M471B5773DH0-CH9 (8 chips, 256 Mb each).
I need 8 Gb in total. I'm losing my mind. I've tried two Patriot Memory SL 4 Gb DDR3 1333 MHz SODIMM CL9 PSD34G13332S (16 chips, 256 Mb each). Also I've tried two AMD 4 Gb DDR3 1333 MHz SODIMM CL9 R334G1339S1S-UO (8 chips, 512 Mb each). They're both completely identical to those installed now in terms of their characteristics (PC10600, 1333 MHz, 9-9-9-24 timing), yet the laptop won't boot with neither of them. In case of ADM I was at least able to get into BIOS (they're readable there), but with Patriot even the screen won't turn on.
Can somebody please tell me the EXACT 4Gb ram that will work (I need 8Gb in total)? I'm so frustrated with this, I'm going to lose it!! Or is it just a bad luck and I'm getting two faulty RAMs in a row? Thank you. Thank you.

I FOUND A WORKING ONE!
Samsung SODIMM DDR3 4GB PC10600 1333MHz 1x4 Gb (M471B5273CH0-CH9).
Thanks again for all your advice, guys!
P.S. make sure it has 16 chips with 256 Mb each instead of 8 with 512 Mb. Some other thread told me those 1st generation CPU's controllers won't work with 512 Mb memory banks somehow, but I personally haven't checked that. Manual says these 1st generation CPUs, if they're Intel instead of AMD (!), should be working with 16 Gb in theory, but that's on you to find out 🙂

It is an old machine, no Official specs, we have
https://www.notebookcheck.net/HP-Pavilion-dv7-4070er.38260.0.html
It is too old, even Crucial does not stock RAM to support it. It has 2 slots of RAM and supports 8GB (2 x 4GB) max. You can use
https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr3/ct51264bf160b/ct5299229

Hi, @Sergey1241
See if you can get a pair of these memory bars in the Russian Federation.
They will work.
You can read through this discussion.
It is a nightmare trying to find the right memory that works in any HP notebook with an Intel 1st Gen core processor...

One of the other people that posted on the link above indicated that they bought this memory and it also worked.

Thanks for the quick response, man.
Sadly, they're unavailable in my area. They're not even available on Amazon and Ebay. I guess I'll just try some random nonames from China or something or some second-hand markets for old RAMs. Maybe some Crucial, I don't know. Thanks anyway.

You're very welcome.
See if you can find the memory part number on eBay listed in chapter 3 of the service manual...
