Then you will need to install a 500GB or larger SSD.

Are 2.5" SSDs the same for desktop pcs as they are for notebook pcs? Because I have a spare 240gb Samsung 840 2.5" SSD that's just taking up space in my desktop. I was wondering if I could install that into my laptop?

You could try but I have heard that the Recovery Media will not install on a smaller drive.
