Hi:

Every guide on that support page works fine for me, so it is possible that the HP server that is supporting Hong Kong is out of service right now.

I have attached all of the user guides from the support page for you below, except the setup instructions and regulations.

The User Guide I had to zip because it just exceeded the forum's 5.0 MB attachment limit.

Thanks. However I noticed that the model numbers are 15-eg1000 - 15-eg1999. Is that alright?

You're very welcome.

That is the service manual which appears on your notebook's support page so it must be the most recent one that HP has for the model series.

Just make sure that things like the memory specs are the same in the manual as in your notebook if you plan on doing any upgrades.

For example, the 15-eg1xxx model series uses DDR4-3200 memory.

It looks like the 15-eg2xxx model series uses the same memory as the 15-eg1xxx model series.

If you want to install more than 16 GB of memory, you can do this to see if it is possible:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Well, it showed 16gb. And dmidecode showed the same.
Is it that the total maximum is 16gb or 16gb for a channel?

I was wondering if I could put in a 32gb / 16gb ram and see if it would work, since theoretically the cpu should support up to 64gb of ram.

If the report showed 16 GB, it means 2 x 8 GB.

The Crucial memory report for the model series indicates that 2 x 32 GB of memory is supported.

So, I don't know what to tell you.

Two sources are indicating 16 GB is the max.

I was surprised that the report only indicated 16 GB.

I would have bet it would have indicated a minimum of 32 GB.

Chapter 5 of the service manual indicates that any work done inside the notebook should be done by an authorized HP service center.

Most folks do the upgrades themselves anyway.

Whether or not you want to do that is up to you.

I doubt that you would cause any damage to the motherboard merely installing a memory chip that was not supported.

I suspect the worst-case scenario if a single 32 GB memory chip was not supported the PC would not boot up.

Personally, I don't think you would have a need to install 64 GB of memory in your notebook, and 2 x 16 GB of memory will probably be more than sufficient.

Do note however, that if your notebook ever needs warranty work, you must return the notebook to its original hardware configuration before sending it in for service.
