can't type @ on my new HP envy. it keeps giving ". pls help

It sounds like you have the wrong keyboard layout set - ie Uk keyboard layout for a US keyboard.

 

If you have more than one keyboard layout set in Windows 10, you can toggle between them by holding down the Ctrl Key and pressing the Shift key

 

Alternatively, you can change the layout for your keyboard as described on the relevant link below.

Hello DavidPK, Thank u very much for ur response.I opened the link u sent and followed what it says buty still not working. I don't know what more to do

Open settings, select Devices and then select Typing from the left hand pane.

 

Scroll down to the bottom and click on 'Advanced Keyboard Settings'.

 

In the following window, see if you can select the correct input method - ie English (United States) - US
