The M.2 slots in the 15-bs### notebook model series only support SATA M.2 SSD's not NVMe.

 

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types.

One of a local technician said it is capable of nvme ssd

I 100% guarantee you that a M.2 NVMe SSD will not work.

 

No doubt the person is looking at the slot design with the one key and telling you that it is for a NVMe SSD that has one notch.

 

Every HP notebook and desktop PC that I know of has a M.2 slot that 'looks' like it will support a NVMe SSD because they all have one key.

 

That is why you have to read the service manual for every notebook to see what HP indicates is supported.

 

Some M.2 slots support NVMe only, some support SATA only and some support both..

 

There is nothing that prevents a SATA M.2 SSD which has two notches on either side from fitting in your notebook's M.2 slot.

 

There are many discussions on this forum such as this one which indicate a NVMe SSD will not work in any 15-bs### notebook.  Here is one for example.
