I have an older HP Pavilion dv7 notebook PC laptop that the sound has gone out on. It is integrated into the mother board. Is there a motherboard i can replace to make it work again?

Unfortunately it may not be worth doing, unless you can find one second hand as you would have to purchase Windows 10 or 11.
The operating system license key is tied to the system board on the Microsoft Licensing servers.

Hi, @BackBeat24
I see that you are running W11 on your notebook.
Is it possible that it just needs a driver for the sound to work?
You may want to try this W10 IDT audio driver, restart the PC and see if that gets the sound to work again.

On almost any HP notebook that has the IDT audio chip that does not have driver support for W10/W11, the sound quits working unless you can find a driver that works for it.
The one above is the only one that I know of that has any chance of working.
