i have been trying, unsuccessfully so far, to find a keyboard to replace my present one. I have tried ordering models which have been recommended but which, when delivered, clearly will not fit. Either the connecting ribbon is wrongly aligned or there no fixing tabs in the right place or both!
My final solution I hope might be to locate a used Keyboard from an otherwise unserviceable identical laptop ?
The moodel number provided by HP for my keyboard is 639 396-031.
it is really frustrating that my laptop which was not cheap is now in danger of being scrapped simply because neither HP or anywhere else can supply a suiatble keyboard!
I hope there is a saint out there somewhere who can help please!
I can provide further details if required.

Both your supplied numbers are invalid

I belive your machine is an HP D0X38EA#ABU (zero) not DOX38EA#ABU (lettr O) or HP ENVY dv7-7334ea Black Notebook. Its specs
https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c03628173
which has Full-size, island-style with numeric keypad part # 681980-031 to be used in the UK. Part is not available from HP Partstore now.

please try Amazon or eBay using part # above
Regards.

Many thanks for your response and advice.
The HP model number is quoted from the HP registration for the laptop.
In addition the existing keyboard has a label underneath stating
replace with HP Spare 639396-031. I cant understand how this can be invalid?
However if as you suggest the part number 681980-031 will fit my laptop then before i purchase yet another keyboard that turns out not to fit, how can i find a picture of the connecting ribbon and the fixing tabs along the side to make sure it will fit?
can you help wi this information please?
